A 22-year-old man was hospitalized Sunday morning after main Irvine police on a chase that ended when he boarded a random boat on Balboa Island in Newport Seashore.
Police stated the person, lined in blood from self-inflicted cuts, could have skilled a psychological well being disaster.
Police initially responded to a report of a “suspicious male with blood on him” round 7 a.m. within the space of Rockefeller and Jamboree Highway, the place the 22-year-old was present in a automobile. The person fled from police alongside Jamboree Highway till the highway resulted in Newport Seashore, close to the harbor.
He then jumped into the water and took a kayak to a ship within the harbor, Irvine police spokesman Kyle Oldoerp stated.
With the help of the Orange County Sheriff’s Division Harbor Patrol, the person was safely taken into custody and brought to a hospital. The blood on the person was decided to be from self-inflicted cuts made with a razor blade that he had thrown into the ocean, Oldoerp stated.
