Everybody agrees that the majority star MVP Pete Alonso can be superb a second time. However my query is that this:
Why is it definitely worth the lower than Rafael Devers?
Alonso has .859 Ops to Devers’ .855 (and Alonso’s Ops Plus is best, 137-128). Giants made $ 255 million for the Devers deal (and gave up 4 gamers). Alonso is 2 years older, however in contrast to Devers, he performs 1B enthusiastic.
It appears that there’s a bias in opposition to 1b – possibly it’s higher to refuse to play there?
